A man who led Killeen police on a car chase Thursday morning is recovering in the hospital after flipping his vehicle.

KWTX's Kathleen Serie reports that the chase began around 1:20 AM when officers tried to stop the driver of a Chevy Caprice for running a red light.

The driver made the brilliant decision to speed off, leading police on a chase until he lost control of the vehicle while trying to turn onto West Texas Avenue. He hit a wire supporting an electrical poll and flipped the car, which he later had to be extracted from.

The suspect was taken to Temple's Scott & White Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A woman in the car with him managed to make it out uninjured.
