Did you know Baron Manfred Von Richthofen AKA the "Red Baron" was a real person and  not just the object of Snoopy's air raids?

"The Red Baron" was a German fighter pilot with the Imperial German Army Air Service (Luftstreitkräfte) during World War I. He was considered the top ace of that war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories.

96 years ago, April 21,1918, Baron Manfred Von Richthofen was shot down.  He made a perfect landing with a bullet in his chest, then died in his plane.

I am not ashamed to admit I know about Baron Manfred Von Richthofen because of that song we used to sing in elementary school, "Snoopy Vs the Red Baron", by the Royal Guardsman.

Now what do you know about the 60's Band, The Royal Guardsman? Guess what?  They are not from England. They are California boys. There were 6 of them back then.

No, they did not have "Peanuts" creator Charles Shultz's permission to sing about Snoopy but eventually got all that legal stuff ironed out.

They even did Snoopy vs The Red Baron parts two and three.

I do not remember these!

Part Three is also called Snoopy Vs The Red Baron (Christmas Song)

I want you to remember all this for the next time you are on Jeopardy!
