As tends to be the case these days, a high-profile reunion of fan-favorite series gets the revival fires churning. The L Word will introduce a new generation with a sequel series at Showtime, featuring at least three of the original stars.

Per BuzzFeed, Showtime has confirmed that original L Word stars Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig, and Leisha Hailey will executive produce and appear in a proposed revival, which would otherwise feature “a new ensemble cast” and potential returns from the original series. Additionally, The L Word creator Ilene Chaiken will executive produce, but her duties showrunning FOX’s Empire will necessitate a new L Word writer running point.

Chaiken, Beals, Moennig and Hailey were among those Entertainment Weekly reassembled for May’s LGBT issue, though prospects for a reboot have been swirling since the show’s 2009 end. The original 2004 series broke new ground for LGBT representation, with a cast over the years that included Mia Kirshner, Laurel Holloman, Pam Grier, Erin Daniels, Rachel Shelley, Daniela Sea, Marlee Matlin and more.

The project is only in development for now, but what should a new generation of The L Word do differently from the first?
