September 18 is Rice Krispies Treats Day
Remember when we surrounded Snap, Crackle, and Pop with ooey, gooey, melted marshmallows, and ended up with a tasty treat?
Legend has it, back in 1927, two ladies in the Kellogg's Home Economics lab invented the Rice Krispies Treats for a Campfire Girls fundraiser, but there is no documentation.
Whoever had the idea, I thank them. Rice Krispies Treats are the one of the first things I ever made. They are so easy, you just need marshmallows, butter and Rice Krispies.
So today we celebrate Rice Krispies Treats. Back in my day we had to make them at home and they only came in one flavor. Nowadays you can buy Rice Kripsies Treats right off the store shelves in all kinds of flavors.
And of course there are knock offs. But nothing beats the genuine article made in your very own kitchen.
Now you can fancy em up at home. Just look at all these Krispie Koncoctions!
I am so glad I am no longer an ambitious cook, otherwise I would be much bigger than I am now after making every single one of those recipes!
