The true beginning of the Robert Griffin III era in Washington doesn't happen until Sept. 9 at the Superdome, but Redskins fans got a taste of the quarterback's poise in Thursday's preseason opener.

Griffin played the first three offensive series against the Buffalo Bills, finishing 4-of-6 for 70 yards and a touchdown. Griffin's final pass of the night was a slip screen to Pierre Garcon, who took it 20 yards before somersaulting into the end zone for the score. The touchdown capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive covering nearly four minutes.

Griffin to Garcon will be a hook-up to watch. The former Indianapolis Colts wideout had three catches for 58 yards and the TD with RG3 in the game.

Griffin looked cool and under control in his debut, giving way to Rex Grossman with 3:40 remaining in the first quarter and Washington leading 7-3. Redskins fans, feel free to stare at RG3's 145.8 passer rating with glorious wonderment.
