I had the pleasure of interviewing former University of Texas great Ramonce Taylor Friday afternoon.

Taylor was a standout football player at the University of Texas when they won the 2005 National Championship against the University of Southern California. Now he's back in Central Texas and is planting the roots of something big.

He's created the Ramonce Taylor Youth Association to give children a chance to thrive in a positive environment with the goal of helping them grow athletically and academically.

On Saturday, April 28th, he'll host the association's 1st Annual Celebrity Kickball Game with special guest Vince Young. It's happening at Belton High School from 1 PM to 2 PM (festivities from 9 AM to 1 PM), and there'll be special prizes like signed jerseys, UT football tickets, a TV, and dinner for two.

For more information about the event or to RSVP, visit rtyouthassociation.com or write to rtaylor.youthassociation@gmail.com. You can also get in touch with Elaine at (254) 718-4485.

The Ramonce Taylor Youth Association will offer track, basketball, and football programs for local kids. The teams will compete in AAU leagues and other select leagues.

There'll incentives for students who show up to practices, keep good grades, display responsible behavior. Registration for the association began March 1st, and 330 children have already signed up.

Track teams will range from ages 4-17, basketball teams will range from 7-17, and football teams will range from ages 7-13. Taylor said, "I'm hoping to be a mentor to this generation and help them achieve dreams of getting to college."

Saturday April 21st, come out to the Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers located at 7036 W Adams Ave. Temple, TX. 76502 for a fundraiser from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All proceeds from purchases made at Freddy's will be donated to the association.
