Want to know how you can get on the Naughty List in less than ten seconds? Just try to ban Christmas and become the token Grinch in your town. An Elementary School Principal at an Elkhorn Public School sent a memo out and banned all kinds of items that made her feel uncomfortable, the list included Santas, Reindeer, Christmas trees, “Elf on the Shelf,” singing Christmas carols, playing Christmas music, candy canes, homemade ornament gifts, Christmas movies, and red and green items. Why is everyone's favorite Christmas candy prohibited? "Historically the shape is a ‘J’ for Jesus. The red is for the blood of Christ, and the white is a symbol of his resurrection."  Why is an ornament prohibited? According to the memo “This assumes that the family has a Christmas tree, which assumes they celebrate Christmas. I challenge the thought of, ‘Well they can just hang it somewhere else.” The Memo ended with the principal acknowledging she was the Unintentional Grinch who stole Christmas.

Liberty Counsel a Florida-based First Amendment group sent a letter to the Elkhorn District claiming that the war on Christmas showed hostility to Christians and they demanded a reversal. Several parents contacted Liberty Counsel since they are a nonprofit organization dedicated to "advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life and the family, with pro bono assistance and representation".

According to Omaha World-Herald, "District officials hastily reversed the ban, saying the principal had violated district policy." As of now, the self-proclaimed "Grinch" Manchester Elementary principal Jennifer Sinclair is still on administrative leave.
