How many of you remember this hit from 1971?

On this day in 1971 the top of the charts was occupied by Paul Revere & the Raiders and their song "Indian Reservation".

A guy named Marvin Rainwater first recorded it in 1959. It was then named "The Pale Faced Indian". I went no where. Then, in 1968, Don Fardon, recorded it. His version was a top 20 hit, but in 1971 Paul & his Raiders took it all the way to top of the charts.

For those of you who look for deeper meaning behind your music. This song refers to the forced removal and relocation of the Five Civilized Tribes, including the Cherokee, from Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama to the southern Indian Territory in present-day Oklahoma.
