Leave it to uniquely Texas institution like the Alamo Drafthouse to bring back the original Star Wars trilogy. This time, the engagement is exclusive: they're doing it roadshow style.

For those too young to remember, myself included, here's what Wikipedia has to say about a roadshow:

A roadshow theatrical release (known also as reserved seat engagement) was a term in the American motion picture industry for a practice in which a film opened in a limited number of theaters in large cities like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Dallas and San Francisco for a specific period of time before the nationwide general release. Although variants of roadshow releases occasionally still exist, the practice mostly ended in the early 1970s.

One of the hallmarks of the old road shows is typified by epics such as Lawrence of Arabia, which was the sheer length of the presentation. This screening of geekdom's "holy trilogy" will be no different. All three of the films will screen back-to-back-to-back.

Alamo Drafthouse’s VP of Special Events Henri Mazza said in a release on the company's website, “Seeing the original trilogy on the big screen for the first time is a real life-altering event and just a supreme amount of fun. When the films became available to book for screenings like these, we jumped at the chance to do something big.”

Be aware however, this engagement will be August 11 – 13 at Austin's Long Center for the Performing Arts, not the usual Drafthouse. Vader likes a BIG room.
