Northbound Lane of I-35, Pendleton Road Exit Closing Tonight

The Texas Department of Transportation is reminding Central Texans of the closure of an old exit along northbound I-35 between Temple and Troy tonight.

TxDOT representative Jodi Wheatly released the following information Tuesday evening.

Tuesday night, November 28, beginning at 7 PM, work crews will close the old off-ramp at exit 306 to FM1237/Pendleton Rd., between Temple and Troy, and open the new off-ramp at exit 308 in its permanent location (about 1.3 miles south of the old location). The work will require a one-lane closure of the northbound mainlanes overnight.
The new exit 308 off-ramp will be about 1.3 miles farther south than the old one, and will serve both the new crossing south of Troy (Love’s Boulevard) and the FM 935/Main St. crossing in Troy.

Drivers needing to access FM 1237/Pendleton Rd. on the west side of I-35 can use exit 308, travel north to the new crossing, then turn back south to 1237/Pendleton Rd. (about 2.5 miles). They will also be able to use exit 303 in Temple, cross over N. Loop 363 and stay on the access road to the 1237/Pendleton Rd. crossing (the bridge across I-35 there will remain open).
Signs will be posted to direct drivers to their destinations from the new mainlane off-ramps.
In addition, the contractor will begin construction of a temporary off-ramp to replace the exit 306 ramp that is closing. This ramp will be used in the interim between now and the construction of a new permanent exit 306. We expect the temporary ramp to be completed and open before Christmas.
The ramp changes will follow a major overnight switch of northbound mainlane traffic to new pavement fromnear Spur 290 in Temple to just north of FM 1237/Pendleton Rd (about six miles).

THE TEMPLE CLOSURE WILL BE A FULL MAINLANE CLOSURE FROM BAKER BLVD (EXIT 303) TO N. LOOP 363. TRAFFIC WILL BE ROUTED TO THE ACCESS ROAD AND RETURN TO THE MAINLANES AT A TEMPRARY ONRAMP JUST BEFORE Loop 363.
