City leaders, community volunteers, HEB managers, and even a band and cheerleaders from Killeen's Ellison High School welcomed a new HEB location to Killeen in style Friday morning.

The 83,000+ square-foot grocery store features in-house smoked barbecue, freshly prepared sushi, pre-cooked, non-frozen meals and meal starters, and spacious aisles. Of course, what's sure to have a lot of people excited is the beer on tap!

Among the speakers were HEB's Public Affairs Director Leslie Sweet and Vice President/General Manager Jeff Thomas, who thanked the Killeen and Fort Hood communities for the warm welcome, as well as the work of local volunteers who will join with HEB for future charitable endeavors.

Sweet and Thomas presented a $5,000 donation to the Killeen Food Care Center, $3,500 to the Killeen ISD Education Foundation, and $5,000 to Operation Homefront.

Killeen Mayor Jose Segarra spoke about HEB's role as a community hub, a job generator, and a contributor to area charities.
