March 29th, 1975 was the day American Forces departed Vietnam.

In 2017, President Donald Trump signed the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act designating March 29th as National Vietnam Veterans Day.

If you have not seen the Vietnam Memorial at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, this Thursday would be a great day to go take a look. The Killeen Daily Herald is reporting several events are planned in Central Texas to observe the day.

  • The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1000 will host a breakfast at VFW Post 3892 in Harker Heights.
  • The Killeen Heights Vets Center is hosting a cookout from 1 to 3 PM at Carl Levin Park in Harker Heights.
  • All Vietnam-era Veterans who served from 1955 to 1975 are invited to Lampasas for an award ceremony featuring a commemoration certificate and pin marking the anniversary of the Vietnam War. The ceremony will be held at the old Lampasas Middle School at 199 N. Main Street.
