The biggest hit single in the summer of 1979 was the Knack's "My Sharona," and it was certified a Gold record for selling over one million copies.

The Knack's lead singer Doug Feiger wrote the song for his girlfriend, Sharona Alperin, whose picture appeared on the single's cover.  "My Sharona" was number one for 6 weeks and was the groups' only top ten hit.
