The 'First Day Hike' at Mother Neff State Park is hoping to attract a record number of participants this year in Moody, Texas.

The Killeen Daily Herald reports this will be the 7th year for the 'First Day Hike' at Mother Neff, and in 2017 the event saw over 500 participants. The park hopes to break last years record of 549 walkers on January 1st.

The hike is free but the admission fee to the park still apply. Adults are $2 dollars, and kids 12 and under can get in for free. Participants are asked to show up about 30-45 minutes ahead of the hikes which are scheduled to begin at 9 AM and 2 PM.
