Texas and Texas A&M’s 119th meeting won’t come any time soon, if at all. Many of their 118 clashes have come on Thanksgiving but, even with the Aggies set to begin their first football season as members of the SEC, Longhorns head coach Mack Brown still wants to play on Thanksgiving this year.

“I don’t care who we play but I want to play on Thanksgiving in Austin,” Brown said. “I think it’s been fun. It’s been traditional. It’s been something our players have enjoyed. They can play the game and they can go home and have their Thanksgiving either Friday or Saturday, then be back for Sunday meetings for the next week.”

Texas is currently slated to host TCU Saturday, Nov. 24 but the game was listed on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22) in the Big 12 Media Guys that were handed out at Big 12 Media Days last week. There is a strong possibility that the Longhorns and Horned Frogs will eventually square off on Thanksgiving.

This past season, Texas took down Texas A&M in a thrilling comeback win. The Aggies took an early 13-0 lead but the ‘Horns stormed back and led 24-19 in the fourth quarter before Ryan Tannehill’s touchdown pass to Jeff Fuller with less than two minutes remaining. But Case McCoy’s 25-yard scramble in the final minute put Texas in field goal range and Justin Tucker converted on the game-winning 40-yarder as time expired to give the ‘Horns a 27-25 victory.
