UPDATE: KWTX reports that a suspect was in custody shortly after 10:30 PM Tuesday.

A car chase involving a stolen car resulted in one police cruiser crashing and a neighborhood being placed on lockdown as officers searched for a suspect.

KWTX's Tianna Jenkins reports that the chase began just south of West Stan Schlueter Loop on Crested Eagle Drive around 3:25 PM. The chase lasted roughly five minutes, during which an officer's car crashed into a utility pole at Old FM 440 and Anna Lee Drive.

Police located the stolen car in the 2100 block of Moonstone Drive. They blocked traffic along Moonstone and adjacent Ledgestone and Sandstone Drives as they established a perimeter and began searching the area. A SWAT team arrived at a home on Moonstone shortly after 5:00 PM.

Nearby Willow Springs Elementary was placed on lockdown, and around 50 students were kept inside and only allowed to leave with parents or guardians.

Jenkins' last report stated that an elderly woman emerged from the home on Moonstone around 7:15 PM and was placed on a stretcher. Meanwhile, police appeared to be negotiating with a man inside the home.

As of this article's publication, police were still negotiating with the suspect, and officers could be heard on a bullhorn warning the suspect that they planned to deploy a police K9.
