A sixth grade student at Killeen's Gateway Middle School was arrested Wednesday after reportedly making threats against students and staff.

According to KISD officials, the 13-year-old alternative school student was in an in-school suspension class and began shouting verbal threats of gun violence around 2:40 PM. The student was arrested on campus and transported to the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center.

Superintendent John Craft said no students were in immediate danger, and no weapons were found at the scene.

Craft said all threats will be taken seriously, and anyone issuing them will be prosecuted.

Gateway Principal Chris Halpayne issued a telephone message to parents informing them of the issue and reiterating the district's determination to ensure the safety of students and staff.
