Killeen ISD police were investigating a threat made against Manor Middle School Friday afternoon.

A Killeen ISD spokesperson said the threat was made anonymously on Instagram. In response, district officials increased the police presence on campus, and KISD officers were working to determine the identity of the person who posted the threatening language.

The spokesperson aid the campus remained safe and secure Friday afternoon.

Manor Principal Rhae Bell called parents to make them aware of the threat and praised students who she said did precisely what they've been taught to do in such a situation - promptly report what they see and hear.

“We are proud of our students who saw this social media threat and immediately told school officials about it, which allowed us to immediately contact police, Bell said. "We encourage all our students to always report anything they see or hear that could threaten the security of the school."
