Juvenile Suspect in Custody after Fatal Shooting at Jackson Park in Temple

Temple police have arrested a juvenile suspect in connection to a shooting that left a man dead Wednesday morning.

KWTX reports that the shooting occurred at Jackson Park, 925 North 4th Street. Officers discovered a man's body after responding to a report of gunfire in the park.

Lamar Middle School and Jefferson Elementary were placed on soft lockdown as police closed 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th Streets and combed the area for the suspect.

Shawana Neely with the Temple Police Department told KWTX the suspect surrendered shortly after 11 AM and was taken to the city's juvenile processing office.
