Jamie Garrett’s Video Memories

I may not have memory of the day MTV debuted in the early 80s, but soon after I became hopelessly addicted to Music Television.  I was only freed from the grasp of this addiction when MTV decided to stop actually PLAYING music videos!!

I remember my dad being stationed in the Philippines from 1983-1986.  There were only two channels, and those channels were only filled with rerun TV and PSAs about the danger of typhoons.  Luckily, every Friday night we'd get to see a music video.  They'd show a random music video from "stateside", and that was my first taste of music on television.  I remember the first video I ever saw:
