I ran track for about a minute in Junior High. I did the Shot Put and Javelin and sucked at both. I always kept an eye on the Pole Vaulters, because I found it to be the craziest event ever.

You couldn't do this event half ass. One of the key's is momentum. One of the fears is falling backward and landing on the hard ramp. So you had to show no fear and run as fast as you can, then launching yourself up in the air to an uncertain fate. Pure insanity all the way around. Best leave it to the insane professionals, or insane college students. Champion Vaulter Allison Stokke was kind enough to strap GoPro's all over herself, and her pole, to give us a close up look at pole vaulting.
