Ya boy Vin Diesel is back on that breaking news beat. In a new “secret” Facebook live stream, your number one source for all things Vin Diesel revealed that two key members of the Fast and Furious fam are returning for the ninth installment in the series: Director Justin Lin (who previously helmed the fourth, fifth and sixth films) and Jordana Brewster (who hasn’t appeared in the series since Furious 7’s farewell to Paul Walker).

In the video, Diesel confirms previous reports of Lin’s potential return and reveals that Brewster will be joining them to reprise her role as Mia Toretto — Dominic’s sister and the wife of Walker’s Brian. “Think forefathers of Fast, the architects of the Fast saga. The ones responsible for resurrecting this beautiful saga,” Diesel teases before making the big announcement. The actor also says that it was Lin’s insistence that Brewster return for Fast and Furious 9, which will hopefully give her character a more significant role than she’s had in previous outings.

Diesel says that Lin and Brewster will hopefully get the franchise back to “where it needs to be to arrive to its final chapters.” The news comes in the wake of highly-publicized beef between Diesel and co-star Dwayne Johnson, who is set to headline his own spinoff with Jason Statham. That project has been a source of contention, particularly with Fast co-star Tyrese Gibson; it didn’t help matters when Universal delayed the release of Fast and Furious 9 to accommodate the spinoff.
