The song was written and recorded my Mark James in 1968. It failed to become a hit so it was given to an artist trying to make a comeback. That artist of course was Elvis Presley.

It was on this day in rock history that the recording session began that would include the hit "Suspicious Minds". It was recorded in Memphis at American Sound Studios. It was, also, the first time Elvis recorded in his home town since his Sun Studio days back in 1956.

It's been covered quite a few times since it went to number one in 1969. A few of the other artists that took a swing include, the Fine Young Cannibals, Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, and the version I like the best...Dwight Yoakam.
