This is the day back in 1967 that the Doors were told they could never be on the Ed Sullivan show again.

In case you are not old enough to remember the Ed Sullivan show, it ran on television on Sunday nights back in the '60s, and it was broadcast live from New York. It was a highly-rated variety show, hosted by Ed, and it often featured new rock and roll talent-- it was the first show to feature Elvis Presley in a live performance, for example.

The Doors sang "Light My Fire" on this date, but only after lead singer John Morrison broke his agreement with the show's producers.  Morrison said before the performance that he wouldn't sing the words "Girl, we couldn't get much higher," but he did anyway!

It was all over for the Doors!

Here's that song...

See you tomorrow on the morning show!
