I think she's under-rated, this Pat Benatar. When the lists of top women singers is bandied about, I don't think the Mariahs and the Whitneys and the Areana Grandes of the world think about elbowing little Pat out of the way. (As an aside, is Areana Grande an actual person? It sounds like a car that someone named Areana would drive over her assistant's head.) Trust me, junior, our Pat has the pipes to blow you Star Search wannabes off the stage and into the parking lot. (Is Star Search still a thing? Is Ed Macahoan still alive? is that even how you spell his name? I'd do research but I don't want to.)

So much to admire about Patricia Mae Andrzejewski. First female rock artist on MTV. Second video EVER on MTV. A happy thirty-five year marriage to guitarist Neal Giraldo. She even got a big swinging blues album that's pretty stellar. And that fricking voice? Seriously. Check this shizz out. With no fancy tricks, just straight belting, she fills out the sound to every wall. Must be her opera training.

That's what I'm talking about. Today we're going for one of her more mellow hits, produced by husband fella. a big sweeping epic widescreen epic anthem and a video shot in what appears to be the remains of an artful toilet papering. Also snazzy green gloves and a crazy looking drummer whose actual name was Myron Grombacher. No really.

Today's tune hit number five in 1984, and was even bigger in the U.K. where it's apparently her second most well known song, next to that, uh, other song, the one with Battlefield in the title.
