KXAS reports that Dallas officials are having a hard time finding equipment to remove a Robert E. Lee statue in the city.

According to the Dallas Morning News , city manager T.C. Broadnax says crane owners in the city are receiving threats and are avoiding being part of the removal process. Just days ago, a crane headed to Dallas from Houston to remove the statue was involved in a fatal crash.

The city is determined to remove the statue by the end of the week. Dallas police have been assigned to Lee Park until it is removed.

City officials say they do not wish to destroy the statue, so they will continue to wait for the right equipment to remove it respectfully so it can be stored. Most of the cranes capable of doing the job are tied up along the cost helping with hurricane relief efforts.
