Dallas Firefighter, Civilian Shot; Search Underway for Gunman

UPDATE 3:45 PM: The gunman has reportedly been found dead in a home Dallas police searched Monday afternoon. Another man was also dead inside the home.


UPDATE 2:55 PM: More details have emerged about the firefighter’s injuries and his condition.

WFAA reports that he was struck in the leg while treating a gunshot victim in the 3200 block of Reynolds when the suspect approached and began firing.

The firefighter was transported to Baylor University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. At last check, he was stable, but still in critical condition. He reportedly lost a great deal of blood, and WFAA reports that his heart stopped three times during surgery.


A Dallas Fire and Rescue firefighter-paramedic and a civilian were shot Monday near a training facility, and a massive search is currently underway for a suspect.

WFAA reports that the shooting happened around 11:30 AM in the 3200 block of Reynolds Avenue, just east of the Dallas Fire Rescue Training Academy.

At the time of this article’s publication, the wounded firefighter was undergoing surgery at Baylor Medical Center. The condition of the civilian was unclear.

Police surrounded a house on Reynold’s Avenue Monday afternoon and issued a “citywide assist”, which is a request for aid from any available officers.
