If your commute takes you through the roundabout at Sparta and Commerce in Belton, you'll need to be on the lookout for traffic diversions and work crews.

A contractor will be repairing cracks in the concrete at certain sections of the roundabout on Tuesday, December 4 and Wednesday, December 5. The roundabout will remain open, but things will be a little different than usual.

"During this road work, the roundabout will remain open in all directions," Director of Public Works/City Engineer Angellia Points, P.E. wrote in a media release Friday. "However, traffic will be diverted, as-needed, to the mountable curb and red concrete area. Mobile home transport vehicles should consider alternate routes. Other large vehicles, such as semi-trailer trucks, freight vehicles, school buses, trash trucks, and fire engines, should be able to traverse the mountable curb with ease."

Points wrote that residents most likely to be affected will be notified, but we want to put the word out to everyone who may use the roundabout on a daily basis. You can still get through, but it's going to be a little weird. If you think it will be a problem or want to skip the inevitable delays, you should probably find an alternate route.

As we mentioned above, please be careful and watch out for workers. Take it slow and make sure both you and work crews stay safe.
