We've seen Salmonella-related recalls in the past, but this one takes the cake.

Conagra Foods is recalling some uncan Hines cake mixes that may contain the harmful bacteria. The voluntary recall came after a positive finding in retain samples of the company's Classic White mix. Out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling that mix, along with batches of Classic Butter Golden, Signature Confetti and Classic Yellow produced at the same time.

In a media release, Conagra said they were alerted to a potential problem by CDC and FDA officials investigating a current Salmonella outbreak. Some consumers reported having eaten cake mix before becoming ill.

Some reported having consumed the mix raw. Yes, "licking the spoon" can be fun, but it's not the smartest move, especially considering many of these mixes require raw eggs and flour. You're gambling with your health when you eat raw batter and dough.

Conagra officials say no other Duncan Hines products have been connected to the investigation, nor are they under recall. See the images below for information on what to look for in your cabinet. If you find any of the recalled products, return them to the store where you purchased them or call 1-888-299-7646 between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM, Monday through Friday.
