City Of Austin Issues City-Wide Boil Water Notice
With the recent floods causing water issues in Austin and the surrounding areas, Austin Water, the city's utility service, issued its first ever city-wide boil notice.
According to KXAN, in a statement issued by the utility service, The high level of debris, silt, and mud from the recent rains and floods requires extended filtration that slows the process of getting treated water into the system.
Austin Water Director Greg Meszaros went on to add that the 3 water plants that supply water from the rivers which normally can process more than 300 million gallons a day are running at between a third and a quarter of their capacities and that storage tanks for emergency water are draining.
The City of Austin is asking residents to boil water for cooking, drinking or ice until further notice.
