The Mighty Bulldogs took a hit this week.

KWTX is reporting that Marlin Independent School District has lost its state accreditation.

The Texas Education Agency released accreditation statuses and Marlin is listed ast Not Accredited-Revoked.

Buckholts ISD also falls under that ranking. They've fallen short in the accountability ratings in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

The TEA press released Friday said "A Not Accredited-Revoked status means the Texas Education Agency does not recognize the district or charter school as a Texas public school following multiple years of deficiencies in academic and/or financial performance."

Schools that receive this ranking can seek a TEA review. Buckholts has been granted a review and is now waiting a decision from the state's education commissioner.

Marlin Superintendent, Dr. Michael Seabolt, said he has already requested and received approval for a review.

In situations like this, it's tough to get people to "teach" like they used to. Now they have to teach to the test.

I was in the 8th grade in 1981, I don't remember this question on any quiz. But it was an 8th grade test in 1912.
