A Speegleville couple lost their home to flames late Wednesday night.

Our news partner, KWTX, reports that authorities received a 911 call around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday from the homeowner. He said he walked out of his back door and saw flames shooting up into the night sky.

The homeowner wisely got his wife and their two dogs out of the house before the flames spread.

KWTX reports, "When Speegleville volunteer fire crews arrived to the home on Centerline road they called for back up. China Spring and Valley Mills VFD's all responded including McLennan County fire corps."

It took local firefighters until around 4:30 a.m to put the fire out and remove any hot spots.

Authorities have not released a cause of the fire and are currently investigating. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the house is a complete loss.
