Back in February, the board of trustees at Central Texas College voted 6-1 to take the only PBS station serving Bell County off the air. They met again yesterday to make a final decision on what day that would be. They decided on August 31st.

KWTX reports the board decided last year to be a part of the Federal Communications Commissions Spectrum Act. The act calls for certain stations to switch to another channel to open up options for wireless broadband service. CTC said this move would cost them over $4 Million dollars. They expected this cost to be reimbursed by the government. Congress says they'll pay 60% max.

News 10 says Central Texas College will continue to operate its radio station. PBS stations in Austin and Dallas will likely be added to area cable and satellite options.
