Big Q's Cassette Classics takes a Classical turn.

I was raised in a town that didn’t get FM hit radio until the late 70s early 80s. Until then I

it was a Radio STD

had access to both kinds of music…Country & Western. So my music knowledge I.Q. was like my real I.Q., lacking.

So in late 1981, when the The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra hit the charts, it was the first time I was introduced to “classical” music. True, it wasn’t “real” classical, meaning I was able to be awake and alert at the end of song.

So, there I was, sitting on my bed, with my hand on the record button, waiting for this song to come on the radio, because gosh darnit, it was catchy. Yep, it was a Radio STD. It peaked at #10 in February 1982, its “Hooked on Classics” by Louis Clark and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
