Baylor Sorority Faces Sanctions Following Controversial Video

News 10 is reporting that a Baylor sorority is facing sanctions following a viral video showing members singing the N-word.

Following a video clip from Jan. 10 posted on their official Instagram, Pi Beta Phi sorority at Baylor University is facing multiple sanctions.

KWTX said, "The eight-second video clip now circulating on Twitter shows a large group of girls with their hands in the air, jumping and singing along to the Sheck Wes song 'Mo Bamba.' The unedited version of the song says the N-word at least eleven times in addition to other explicit languages."

The clip went viral when a Baylor student posted the video to her Twitter account. The video has amassed over 37,000 views to date.

"The lyrics of this song do not align with Pi Beta Phi’s core values nor do they exemplify what our organization stands for," the sorority said in a statement. "On behalf of all members of the Texas Zeta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi, we sincerely apologize for any offense resulting from this incident."

Baylor has often played the edited version of "Mo Bamba" at sporting events, however, officials announced they will no longer play the song at official events.
