"There are eight million stories in the naked city; this is one of them."

We've all seen the movies with a town in the old west under siege from a gang of bandits, then a dall dark stranger comes to town and does his thing. Or the gritty urban world of Film Noir when a trenchcoat and fedora-wearing hard-boiled detective investigates the naked city for a seedy crime story.

I don't know if Killeen fits in these Hollywood scenarios but a new ranking of the Most Dangerous Texas cities with populations above 100k has Bell County's largest city on the list.

Here is a list of the top 10 most dangerous cities in Texas (with over 100,000 population):

  1. Odessa
  2. Corpus Christi
  3. Beaumont
  4. Houston
  5. Amarillo
  6. Brownsville
  7. Killeen
  8. Lubbock
  9. San Antonio
  10. Dallas

Crime, police presence and community socioeconomic factors were evaluated in the ranking of cities on this list. The study was conducted under the auspices of the Darrow Law Firm of Houston. More rankings can be found here.

And remember: be careful out there.
